How DJ Steve got started

DJ Steve brings over 20 years of industry experience, starting his journey as a humble DJ and sound/lighting operations manager during his high school years. It was his passion for coordinating music and lights for school productions that propelled him into a flourishing career as a DJ.

Steve’s first breakthrough came when he landed a coveted position as a DJ at a local skating rink in Brisbane. There, he skillfully curated diverse music playlists and orchestrated engaging games to entertain both kids and adults. This experience proved invaluable, as it honed his ability to expertly blend music, elevating the ambiance and atmosphere for a live audience.

With a rich background in live entertainment, DJ Steve is a seasoned professional who knows how to read a crowd, mix tracks seamlessly, and create an unforgettable experience for every event he’s a part of.

ON TO BIGGER AND BRIGHTER THINGS

After mixing at the skating rink for some time, Steve increased his skill-set by deejaying at some of Brisbane biggest nightclubs such as The Caxton Street Hotel, Hogies Nightclub, The Jackass Gingers Sports Bar, The Rum Jungle, Finn MacCools, and Gilhooleys.

Steve is passionate about infusing celebrations with a vibrant disco atmosphere, thanks to his top-of-the-line lighting and sound equipment but what truly brings him joy is witnessing the radiant smiles on kids’ faces as they dance to their favourite tunes. Steve’s enthusiasm extends beyond performing; he also takes great pleasure in sharing his expertise and guiding aspiring DJs to success.

For Steve, it’s all about creating moments of laughter and pure joy through his music, resonating with both children and parents. While he is skilled in entertaining various events like 18th, 21st, 40th and 50th celebrations, his primary focus now lies in crafting unforgettable experiences specifically tailored to delight kids.

WHAT NEXT?

Steve’s reputation, passion for adventure and love of meeting new people eventually led him to mobile deejaying weddings and private parties, which combined with the arrival of his 2 kids, saw him naturally move towards kid’s birthday parties.

DJ Steve has recently retired and hung up the headphones but continues to teach and support our current DJs.

With a background in theatre and music, plus years of experience coaching acting and sports, he knows exactly how to keep every crowd pumped and engaged. Whether it’s a school disco, formal / semi, birthday party or graduation party, DJ Josh guarantees an unforgettable experience filled with laughter, dancing, and pure excitement!"
